Aileen Zuromski, MA LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

My name is Aileen Zuromski, and I have been a licensed professional counselor (LPC) for CM Counsel since August 2023. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Liberty University between the years of 2014-2019. My bachelor's degree is in psychology/crisis counseling and my graduate degree is in professional counseling. I started my career at Blue Mountain Psychiatry in December 2019 and then moved to CM Counsel to work with a more diverse and expansive community.

I work with people of all ages, including children as young as 7 and older adults well into their 80s. I also see couples and families who need to address their communication issues or who are dealing with a family member who is struggling with a substance abuse issue. I enjoy working with people of all ages to help them with their mental health issues and how those issues relate to their age and the "season" of their life they are in.

I use three main therapy modalities, which have produced positive results for many of my patients. The first is cognitive therapy, which aims to help patients change their thoughts and feelings to improve and maintain their emotional well-being. The second is cognitive behavioral therapy, which is very similar to cognitive therapy except it adds the component of addressing the patient's irrational thought patterns and how those thoughts, in turn, affect their behaviors and emotional state. CBT and CT help individuals develop coping skills and strategies to manage their thoughts and ongoing challenging situations to produce a more stable and improved quality of life. The final modality that I use is known as Gestalt therapy and although it is not used as frequently as the previous two therapies, I find that it is the most effective in addressing issues that are in the "here and now" and need to be addressed in the moment. It is a form of therapy that emphasizes the present moment, self-awareness, and personal responsibility for one's own behaviors and experiences.

On a personal note, I am a woman in my early 50s who has been married for 29 years and has two adult male children who are 26 and 24 years of age. I enjoy spending time with my husband and sons, and I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time relaxing in my backyard hanging out on my porch or hammock. My favorite time of year is the end of summer/beginning of fall because that is when football season begins and I get to watch my Philadelphia Eagles wreak havoc on the field!
