John K Cook LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Certified In-Vivo Phobia Counselor
People often come to therapy when they're feeling distressed, stuck, or even hopeless. My goal is to help them find a way beyond these feelings. I assist the individual in developing skills, identifying strengths, and making use of potential support in moving toward recovery.
I work with adults and adolescents ages 14+ and specialize in treating anxiety, including panic disorder, generalized anxiety, and social anxiety. I am certified as a phobia counselor by the Anxiety and Phobia Treatment Center at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, NY. I also treat depression, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addictions, trauma, grief, and relationship issues. I welcome the LGBTQIA+ community. I bring a welcoming and compassionate approach that allows clients to feel safe to explore their needs and work through the issues that have brought them to therapy. My work is strength based and trauma informed. I use evidence-based approaches, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), as appropriate, but always from a holistic perspective and allowing clients to drive their own therapy.
