Laurie Kirsch, MA LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

In my therapy practice I use a client-centered approach to encourage emotional well-being, problem-solving, and personal growth. Historically, I have specialized in children and families, with more than 25 years of experience in Chester County’s child-serving systems of care. More recently, I have treated adults as well, and developed specialization in offering post-traumatic therapy to clients of every age.

I use a warm, collaborative approach to the process of guiding people toward their goals, which have included self-esteem concerns related to ADHD, and insight-oriented therapy for depression and anxiety disorders.

Depending upon the age and background of children who are brought to counseling, most respond well to a combination of play therapy and verbal interaction. The emphasis here is on providing these children with a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable setting for self-expression. I also provide supportive counseling to children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. Also, parents often seek the feedback and support that I can provide based on experience with and understanding of their questions and concerns.

In family counseling, the focus is often on communication problems as well as working through traumatic events with which members are trying to cope and support one another. These sessions can provide opportunity for clarification and re-framing of conflicts that are part of resolving troubling situations.

Entering therapy and counseling can feel challenging to many people. Building trust and rapport is an important and mutually rewarding process as I become acquainted with each client’s life and presenting situation.
