Susan D Draper MS MA LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

I believe that everyone has a lens through which we view the world created by our unique experiences, struggles, triumphs, and diverse cultural languages, but so often we feel as if we lack the voice to express our true selves and needs to others. We struggle to find the courage to live authentically in a world that often does not understand or validate our humanity, empathy, and sense of self. As we find self-empowerment, we can come together to empower our families, communities, and ultimately our world as a united whole to meet the challenges we face as human beings. Therapy can help overcome past trauma to help us live fully in the present.

I offer phone and telehealth video sessions for clients ages 12 and older, including individual and internal family system sessions as needed to help individual clients move forward in pursuing their life goals.  I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients and others dealing with depression, anxiety, gender and relationship issues, trauma, grief/loss, aging, and navigating life changes.

I utilize an integrative and client-centered approach combining cognitive behavioral (CBT), family systems, Adlerian, existential, and narrative therapies along with motivational interviewing to help clients pursue the change and motivation necessary to achieve their personal life goals and restore functionality to their everyday lives and relationships. You are the expert on your life experiences, and I offer individualized support and a safe nonjudgmental space for processing your past and current struggles and traumas so that you can be present, engaged, and proactive in your journey through life’s changes.

I have more than 7 years of clinical mental health experience as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, working with LGBTQ+ and other adolescents and adults in pursuing their life goals and improving their mental health.  I have been a certified Safe Spaces Ally for the LGBTQ plus population since 2015.

I create an individualized therapeutic environment for those navigating divorce and marital/family conflicts where they can process issues that arise in their outside couples/marriage sessions.  I also offer LGBTQ plus affirmative care for those struggling with sexual orientation/gender identity issues including transitional support.  I provide a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where everyone is valued, respected, heard, and supported.  It would be my honor to support you in building the future you want and finding the peace you have been missing in your life and relationships
